Matterhorn: Some ropes and climbing equipment can be found inside one of the Matterhorn's caves. The snowshoes and climbing gear belongs to the lost Wells Expedition, which is painted prominently on a wooden crate. This scene inside the Matterhorn is a lasting tribute to Frank Wells, former Chief Operating Officer for the Walt Disney Company. Wells was an avid mountain climber and skier, who had climbed most of the world's tallest peaks. Tragically, Wells died in a helicopter crash while on a ski trip in Nevada.
Frank G. Wells has also been honored with a Disneyland Window on Main Street.
