Thistle
King Arthur Carrousel - Thistle: Thistle's name probably stems from the carving of a thorny plant on its saddle. Thistle's trappings are trimmed in gold and painted vibrant shades of burgundy, lavender, purple, orange and red.
An ancient symbol of Celtic nobility, the thistle is Scotland 's national flower. According to Scottish legend, a barefoot Viking stepped on a thorny thistle during an invasion, the Viking's scream alerted and saved the castle's inhabitants. The village of Chardonnay, in the Franco-Swiss Burgundy region, also owes its name to the thistle. The historic winemaking region takes its name from the original Latin name for the area - Cardonnacum or thistled place.
