Cars - Redneck Hill

While developing the story for Cars, members of the Pixar braintrust met with actual NASCAR fans. They came across an infield area dubbed Redneck Hill and met the real-life inspiration for Tow Mater. These RVs are partying in the Cars version of the original Redneck Hill.

To the far right of the photo, one of the RVs wears a painting of the Jackalope from Boundin', a 2003 Pixar short.

Cars - Apple Racing Team

Dinoco's Strip Weathers prepares to pass the number 84 car from Apple Racing.

The number 84 refers to 1984, the year that Apple introduced the Macintosh Personal Computer.

Cars - Apple Racing Team

As Lighting McQueen drives through the track's garage area, he passes the trailer for the Apple Racing Team.

In 1986, Steve Jobs invested $10 million dollars in the fledgling Pixar Studios. Originally named the Graphics Group, the company had been the computer graphics division of Lucasfim. Since its employees aimed to create a computer animated feature, Lucasfilm sold the company to Jobs for $5 million. The other $5 million was put directly into Pixar, which installed Jobs as the studio's CEO. Pixar wouldn't exist without the Apple founder's help.

Cars - For the Birds

As Mack and McQueen get their cross-country trip started on the highway, they zoom by a flock of birds on an overhead power line.

Fans of the Pixar short For the Birds may recognize the flock, even if the scene only lasts a split second.

Cars - Passenger Train A113

As Lighting tries to catch up to a Peterbilt he thinks is Mack, he speeds to beat a passenger train to a railroad crossing. The passenger train is marked A113, which refers to a CalArts animation classroom.

Cars - Pizza Planet Pickup Truck

Longtime Pixar fans should recognize the yellow Toyota truck outfitted with a white camper shell. The Pizza Planet delivery truck is located to the left of the Elvis RV, behind Bob Cutlass.

The Pizza Planet pickup made its first appearance in Toy Story and makes cameos in most of Pixar's films.
