Doubloon comes from the Spanish doblón or double. The Spanish doubloon was a historic gold coin in the New World. Named because it was worth two escudos (the basic unit of currency), it was heavily traded in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Doubloon's Gold Tooth

King Arthur Carrousel - Doubloon: Only one of the horses on King Arthur Carrousel has a gold tooth, and that horse is Doubloon - who is usually found in the outer row.

One rumor states that the gold tooth marks Doubloon as Lillian Disney's favorite carousel horse, but the story has never been proven or debunked.

Another theory is that Doubloon was the Dentzel carousel's original lead horse, distinguished from the rest of the menagerie by the gold tooth.
