King Arthur Carrousel - Doubloon: Doubloon is decorated with diamonds and wears a purple, turquiose and orange color scheme familiar to Mardi Gras. Doubloon probably gets his name from traditional treasures thrown during parades celebrating Fat Tuesday in New Orleans.
Doubloon comes from the Spanish doblón or double. The Spanish doubloon was a historic gold coin in the New World. Named because it was worth two escudos (the basic unit of currency), it was heavily traded in the 16th and 17th centuries.
