A1-13 refers to a specific classroom at CalArts. Recognized as one of the best animation schools in the world, the majority of Disney & Pixar animators have spent time in CalArts classroom A1-13 for character animation and design.

In 1961 Walt and Roy Disney founded the California Institute of the Arts, commonly know as CalArts. The Disneys created CalArts by combining two established schools, the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music (founded 1883) and the Chouinard Art Institute (founded 1921).

The Princess and the Frog - Aladdin's Magic Carpet

Aladdin's Magic Carpet makes a cameo in the opening sequence of Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

The Aladdin-themed Easter Eggs were inspired by directors John Musker and Ron Clements, the team that directed both Aladdin and The Princess and the Frog.

The Princess and the Frog - Charlotte's Mascara

Desperately awaiting Prince Naveen's arrival, tears cause Charlotte's heavy mascara to run down both of her cheeks. Lottie's odd little scene was inspired by the real-life drama that surrounded televangelist Tammy Faye Baker. In the late 1980's, confronted with her husband's infidelity during several network interviews, Tammy Faye's heavy make-up and mascara stained tears became a pop sensation.

As the frog prince pleads his case to Tiana, a beaded necklace on Charlotte's vanity creates a Hidden Mickey.

Louis the Alligator pulls on his swamp grass wig, in a scene inspired by The Sword in the Stone's marvelous Madame Mim.

Princess and the Frog - Frog Hunters

This trio of bayou-bred hunters bare a strong resemblance, in both manner and appearance, to the famed Three Stooges (Moe, Curly and Larry). The bumbling hunters capture Naveen and Tiana temporarily, losing the frogs to Ray-Ray and Naveen's heroics and their own numbskull antics.

The Princess and the Frog - Genie Lamp

While singing Dig a Little Deeper, Mama Odie throws a few odd items out of an old trunk, including a Little Mermaid inspired seashell caught in Juju's mouth. Appearing for a split second, another of the items tossed across the screen is the Genie's Magic Lamp from Aladdin.

Ariel's father, King Triton appears as a Mardi Gras float in Disney's The Princess and the Frog.

The Princess and the Frog - Firefly Five Plus Lou

Near the end of The Princess and the Frog, a jazz band fronted by Louis takes the stage at Tiana's Place. Named the Firefly Five plus Lou, the group pays homage to the Firehouse Five plus Two, a popular jazz band from the 50's and 60's. Formed by Disney animator, Ward Kimball, the Firehouse Five featured a rotating roster of part-time musicians who worked as artists, composers, writers and technicians at Walt Disney Studios.
