Tangled - Queen's Necklace Hidden Mickey

A Hidden Mickey appears in this royal portrait, as the Queen's necklace is shaped like a Classic Mickey. Early in the film the gems are rounded, but in other scenes, the Queen's necklace carries more of a teardrop shape.

When Rapunzel opens her artist's kit, the reflection from three jars of paint creates a Hidden Mickey.

Tangled - Dress Form & Fitting

In a scene inspired by Cinderella, a cute little animal helps make a dress. In addition to Pascal's animal assistance, a dress form stands in the background, another subtle nod to Cinderella.

In Cinderella, friendly mice and birds famously sewed her pink gown by using an old dress form in her tower room. Instead of sewing the gown himself, Pascal helps Rapunzel pass the time by getting fitted as her model.

Tangled - Black Cloak and Basket of Apples

Mother Gothel appears at Rapunzel's tower wearing a hooded black cloak and carrying a basket of red apples. She seems to be paying homage to Queen Grimhilde from Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs. Desperate to satisfy her vanity, the evil queen transformed herself into an Old Hag, hoping to trick Snow White. Wearing a hooded black cloak, the old hag offered Snow White a poisonous treat from her basket of red apples.

Tangled - Wardrobe

The large wardrobe next to Rapunzel's bed resembles the one from Belle's castle bedroom in Beauty and the Beast. Though its missing the two bottom drawers, Rapunzel's wardrobe shares a similar shape to the gold-accented white wardrobe from the Beast's castle.

The castle wardrobe was voiced by Jo Anne Worley, the raven haired comedienne from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In.

Tangled - Thug #1

Disney Animators are famed for using the likenesses of friends and colleagues to style their characters. True to tradition, Tangled director Nathan Greno, was the inspiration for one of the Snuggly Duckling Tavern thugs. Found in the back of this group photo, Thug #1 (also voiced by Greno) makes several appearances throughout the film.

Tangled - Greno the Thug

Hook Hand Thug points at Greno the Thug, telling him to get the palace guards to collect the Flynn Rider reward. Greno is named for Tangled co-director, Nathan Greno.

Tangled - Director Cameos

Disney Animators often use caricatures of friends and colleagues to style specific characters. Following that tradition, Tangled directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, inspired two of the Snuggly Duckling Tavern thugs. At the bottom right is Thug #1, resembling Nathan Greno. Holding on to Flynn's right arm is Thug #2, inspired by Byron Howard. In addition to their likenesses, Greno and Howard also provided the character voices.

Tangled - Hook Hand Thug

Tangled's Hook Hand Thug, voiced by actor Brad Garrett, shares a few similarities with Peter Pan villain Captain Hook. Both Disney characters have left handed hooks, odd moustaches and the ability to play piano one-handed.

Tangled - A Young Warthog

A tusked warhog joins in the singing and dancing at the Snuggly Duckling. Usually native to Africa, the young warthog's appearance in Tangled may have been inspired by the Lion King's Pumbaa.

Tangled - Pinocchio

During the I've Got a Dream musical number, Walt Disney's mischievous marionette makes a quick cameo. Only visible for a few frames as the Short Thug flies around the bar, Pinocchio is hidden up in the rafters above Flynn Rider.

Tangled - Snuggly Duckling Passage Hidden Mickey

As Flynn and Rapunzel use the Snuggly Duckling's secret passage to escape, the duo passes an oversized Hidden Mickey made from three wooden barrels.

Tangled - The Town Setting

The setting for the town surrounding Rapunzel's castle was inspired by Disneyland's Fantasyland.

Tangled - Sleeping Beauty Storybook

As Rapunzel and Flynn read in the bookstore, a Sleeping Beauty storybook is displayed next to the window.

Tangled - Three Pigeons

As the Snuggly Duckling thugs help Flynn Rider escape from the castle, he flies by three of the pigeons from Disney's Bolt.
