Bolt's Silverlake Rescue Shelter is named for Los Angeles' Silver Lake District, original location for the Walt Disney Studio. Disney opened the historic studio in 1925 at 2719 Hyperion Avenue. The Hyperion site is considered the birthplace of Mickey Mouse, created in 1928. The first full length animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was also produced at the Silver Lake studio.
With the commercial success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Walt built a larger studio in Burbank, moving there permanently in 1939.
