TicketLeap's Comic-Con Ticketing System is Refreshing

At 9:00am today, memberships for the 2011 San Diego International Comic-Con went on sale. Thousands of Comic-Con fans were frustrated beyond capacity, as they tried to refresh their way through TicketLeap's overloaded sales system. Scheduled for July 21-24, registration for the pop-culture event became an ordeal, as TicketLeap.com's system was overloaded from the start.

This image might look familiar to Comic-Con fans who tried to purchase their memberships today.TicketLeap apologized via Twitter, urging users to refresh over capacity pages in order to complete transactions. However, it took many hopeful conventioneers hours of refreshing pages to finally purchase their Comic-Con passes.

Around 10:00am, the Official Comic-Con Twitter also apologized, "We’re obviously not happy with this morning’s events. We are trying to find answers and get to the bottom of this." Despite the problems, at 1:00pm Comic-Con announced that Four-Day passes were sold out, though additional 4-Day tickets (Thursday through Sunday) may become available after refunds are processed. Single day Comic-Con memberships are still available for fanboys and girls trying to make it to the convention.

Founded in 1970 as the Golden State Comic-Con, the event evolved into the San Diego International Comic-Con in 1973. In 1991, the Comic-Con debuted in the San Diego Convention Center, which had grown into a pop culture phenomenon, featuring everything from comics to collectibles, animation, anime, gaming, film and science-fiction. The largest event of its kind currently draws more than 120,000 people to San Diego annually.
