The Other Song from Flynn's Arcade

While snooping around the abandoned Flynn's Arcade, Sam is serenaded with a pair of über-cool synthesizer riffs. Fitting in with TRON: Legacy's futuristic feel, the jukebox is actually bumping some fresh jams from 1983.

In an earlier blog we identified Journey's Separate Ways (World's Apart), which plays when Sam Flynn turns the arcade's power on. The other song from Flynn's Arcade is Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by the British duo, The Eurythmics. Played as Sam walks downstairs to find the secret office, the synthpop standard Marty McFlys the audience back to 1983.

Back in 1983, when MTV actually played music videos, Sweet Dreams received heavy airplay. Featuring Annie Lennox's dyed red hair and androgynous look, the Eurythmics appeared frequently in rotation with videos like Every Breath You Take by The Police, Michael Jackson's Billie JeanBeat It, Culture Club's Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?, Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran and Pat Benetar's Love is a Battlefield.
