Pixar's "Up" House Recreated
Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:58PM In a project taken on by the National Geographic channel for their TV show How Hard Can It Be?, a team of scientists and engineers recreated Pixar's Up house to see if a house really could fly by helium balloon power alone.
A 16' x 16' x 18' light weight house modeled after Carl and Ellie's home was constructed. It took 300 weather balloons (each filled with one tank of helium) and a few brave volunteers to lift the house to an altitude of 10,000 feet!
