TRON: Legacy - That Flynn's Arcade Song

When Sam flips the power on at Flynn's, the jukebox immediately breathes life into the abandoned arcade. Newer TRON fans may be surprised to learn that high energy ballad blasting in Flynn's Arcade is actually a Top 40 hit from 1983. The song is Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) by the Steve Perry fronted rock band, Journey. Though Daft Punk scored the majority of TRON: Legacy's music, certain songs were used to create nostalgia for the early 1980's.

Here's the original Journey video. Take a few steps back from TRON's futuristic grid to enjoy the 80's hairstyles and air instruments.

Mark and I LOVED that part of the movie! Also loved the way that Journey transitioned into Eurythmic's "Sweet Dreams".

That was some good stuff! :)

lol i was searching for it and couldnt find out what it was. i went to see tron legacy for the first time before christmas and went again to see imax w/ a different group of friends after new year and since the first time i thought it must be so old school but the dynamic is just so energized, giving me a feel of "old blast" if you know what i mean. the new tron soundtracks are definitely much more modern compared to this but its just plain different. this is cool =D. (but LOL at the girl's hair in this music video)

There was a time when MTV only played music videos. We miss those days...

I want my MTV!

A lot of those great videos from the 80's told stories or had awesome dance sequences and still seem cool. Separate Ways, great song, but the video does not hold up well after 27 years.
