Remembering Walt Disney

December 5, 1901 - December 15, 1966
A few months ago we visited Walt Disney's resting place. The Forest Lawn cemetery was beautiful and serene. Acres of neatly manicured grass, trees, fountains, white marble structures and the occasional grazing deer.
No one was around, all was peaceful. Soothing music piped in through hidden speakers. The Disney Family garden was quite modest, consisting of a small statue and bench. I sat on that bench and thought about how lucky I was to be there, paying homage to this great man! I thought about all the wonderful things he created and how his legacy continues to bring joy to people around the world.
It felt like visiting someone I personally knew, like a grandfather. It was a moving experience. I stayed awhile longer soaking in the sunshine, never wanting to forget that moment. Before leaving I whispered "Thank you."
